The Scale Read

Everything still depends on you. Find out what that costs before a buyer prices it.

If you disappeared for two weeks, would the company still run, or would decisions stack up behind you? Buyers and investors price that dependency whether they say it out loud or not. Two companies with the same earnings do not fetch the same money; the one that runs on its founder is priced as a job with a discount attached. The Scale Read scores the company on the five areas a buyer checks in the first hour, with your leadership team and your board answering as well as you, so the answer is the company’s and not only yours. Inside five business days you get a written read of where the company is carrying you and where you are carrying it, the three weakest points with the fix for each, and the order to build in. Then two working sessions, two weeks apart. $1,750 flat, The Build Line™ and its twenty templates included.

What you get, step by step →

What you get

A buyer-grade read of the five capitals. In writing. With the fixes.

The written reading

Your band and your camp — from Base Camp to Top Camp — with all five capitals scored: financial, operating, human, relational, intellectual. What is ready, what is building, what does not exist yet, and the fastest route to each.

The instrument, administered properly

Run on your leadership team and your board, never on you alone. The spread between what you see and what they see is usually the finding — and it is the one a buyer will find too.

The three lowest factors, named

Your three weakest lines called out with their fixes and the gate each belongs to — written down before a buyer discovers them, so they are facts you disclosed rather than problems they found.

Two working sessions

Two weeks apart. The first decides what you build first. The second reads what you built. A written punch list follows each.

Who reads your file

Not a junior analyst. Not a template.

Every Scale Read is done personally by Dr. Scott Kimball: twenty years as an operator, EVP of a nutrition manufacturer through its growth and its sale to private equity, then Chief People Officer of the acquirer, making six manufacturers across seven plants into one company. Since then, hundreds of founder decks and files read from the other side of the table.

One thing said plainly, because it matters. Scott also invests at seed through CLMB Ventures, which he co-owns. The two are kept deliberately separate, under one rule:

One company, one relationship. A Read is not a pitch to CLMB and does not move you up any list. It buys Scott’s work, not his check.

Flat fee. No equity. No success fee. Never a percentage of your revenue, your raise or your sale price, and no introductions for sale, to CLMB or to anyone else.

How it works

Four steps. About fifteen minutes of your time.

STEP 01

Say hello

One email: your company, your revenue run-rate, and your headcount. Same day you get back a secure payment link, with the engagement terms and the mutual NDA to read first. $1,750 flat — one price, everything below.

STEP 02

The instrument goes out

Pay through the link: one tick at checkout accepts the engagement terms and the mutual NDA, and the intake sheet follows within a business day. Then the instrument goes to your leadership team and your board — never to you alone. Fifteen minutes each, plus the documents behind the answers: the cadence, the charters, the concentration, the register.

STEP 03

The written reading

Inside five business days: your band and your camp, the five capitals scored, the spread between the founder’s answers and everyone else’s, the three lowest factors named with their fixes and the gate each belongs to, and a punch list in priority order.

STEP 04

Two sessions

The first walks the reading with you and your team and decides what you build first. The second, two weeks later, reads what you built. A written punch list follows each. Mutual NDA both directions — read it here.

The email is how it starts today; a same-day reply carries the secure payment link. Payment once we have agreed it is the right step for the company. Written reading inside five business days of a complete intake. Full refund any time before it’s delivered.

Five camps, four gates. The reading tells you which camp you are standing in — and which gate is next.

When the Read is not enough

The Scale Audit — from $10K.

The Scale Read is an instrument and my red pen: five business days, two sessions, and a punch list you run yourself. When the reading comes back Camp I or below, and the gaps are bigger than a founder’s evenings, the next step is a measured read of the whole company — on site, in the documents, across the leadership team.

Twenty minutes, no charge, and I will tell you plainly whether the Scale Read is the better first step.

The multiple is not found. It is built.
