Founder Capital · A Scalewrights Coaching Practice

Build the founder, not just the company.

Whole-person coaching for the people who build things — measured, honest, and pointed at a summit that’s actually yours.

Scalewrights builds your company’s capital. Founder Capital builds yours.

The same measurable method that scales a business — turned inward, on the person building it.

For the person winning at work — and feeling the cost

Founders, executives, and owners who’ve built something, and want to be built too.

The bottleneck life

The business runs on you — and so does everything else. You’re the load-bearing wall, and you’re tired.

Success without direction

By every external measure you’re winning. Quietly, you’re not sure the summit you’re climbing is even yours.

The lopsided ledger

Financial capital way up; relational, operating, and personal capital quietly overdrawn. The imbalance always comes due.

Next-chapter fog

After the raise, the exit, or the plateau — a real question with no easy answer: now what, and who am I in it?

Your personal five capitals

The framework that scores a company’s value — recast for the person building it. Rate them, build the weak ones, watch them compound.

F
Financial

Money, freedom & fluency — lead from choice, not fear.

O
Operating

The art of getting it done — time, energy, systems, habits.

R
Relational

Know, like, trust — relationships & reputation that compound.

H
Human — VITAL

The whole you: Vitality, Identity, Toughness, Awareness, Love.

I
Intellectual

A mind that compounds — read, reflect, create.

A climb, scored by strengths

Define your summit (your vision) and your path (your mission). Then build the terrain that gets you there.

STEP 1 · ASSESS

Score your five

Take the free Life Quotient. One honest read on your whole-person altitude — and the exceptions where strength already lives.

STEP 2 · RATE

Find the ridge

The lowest, highest-leverage capital is the climb. Rate 1–10; the number turns a vague feeling into a place to climb from.

STEP 3 · STRATEGIZE

Take the next step

Build the next point up with a concrete move — coached, assigned, and kept honest twice a month — then re-score at ninety days and watch it climb.

Coaching you can actually measure

A number, not a mood

Your Life Quotient on day one and again as you climb. Progress you can see — not just feel.

Built from strength

Grounded in strengths-based, solution-focused psychology: we amplify what already works instead of excavating what doesn’t.

A guide who’s climbed

Two decades in the arena, a private-equity sale and the integration after it, and three years reading founders’ files from the investor’s chair — not theory, lived. You lead your climb; I hold the rope.

I’ve made the climb — in business, and as a person.

I hold a doctorate in industrial-organizational psychology and spent two decades building companies — including Capstone Nutrition, through its growth and its sale to private equity, and the integration of six manufacturers that followed. Since 2023 I have been on the other side of the table as a venture investor, reading founders’ decks, cap tables and diligence files, which is how I know exactly what an investor or a buyer sees when they look at your company, and how early they see it.

What I understood only after the exit is that I had been spending my own capital the whole time to build somebody else’s balance sheet. Founder Capital is where I bring all of it home to the person.

Most operators don’t stall because they don’t know what to do. They stall because the person doing it is running a deficit somewhere — and no framework has ever fixed that.
How I see it
  • Control what can be controlled. Almost everything that hurts in business and in life comes from outcomes we can’t govern. The response is not optimism — it is structure. Build the parts you own well enough that the parts you don’t can’t take everything with them.
  • Evidence beats belief. A deck is testimony; a file is evidence. The same is true of a person. “I’m fine” is testimony. A score, a trend, and a week that ran without you is evidence.
  • Start from strength, not damage. Strengths-based, solution-focused practice is not a nicety — it is the fastest route. Your best capital is the lever you use to raise your weakest one, because you already know how to build that way.
  • The summit has to be yours. Plenty of people climb somebody else’s mountain very efficiently and only notice at the top. Naming your own summit is the first real work, and it is harder than any operating problem.
  • Small, assigned, and dated beats inspired. Insight without an assignment is entertainment. The move is always smaller than you expect, and that is deliberate.
What matters to me
  • Independence. I own what I have, and I want the same for the people I work with. It is why I take flat fees and never a percentage of your raise, your revenue, or your sale.
  • Telling the truth. Including when it costs me the engagement. If the honest answer is “not yet,” or “you need a clinician, not a coach,” or “I’m not the right person,” that is what you will hear.
  • Family, and the arithmetic of a life. I have watched what the work costs when nobody is measuring that side of the ledger. It is the reason the five capitals include the ones that don’t appear on a P&L.
  • Being the same person either way. Identity is living by your values whether or not anyone is watching. I hold myself to it and I will ask you about it.
What I’m like to work with
  • Direct, and prepared. I read what you send before the call. I keep a running read on your company and your capitals across months, so you are never re-explaining context.
  • One thing at a time. We go all the way down on the thing that matters most rather than skimming five. You will do most of the talking for the first ten minutes and considerably less after that.
  • Plain language. No jargon, no models for their own sake, no homework that exists to look like progress.
  • Flexible when your world is. If something is on fire on a Tuesday, that becomes the session. A program that makes you wait two weeks to talk about the thing that is burning is a subscription, not coaching.
  • I don’t carry your pack. I show you the route, mark the hazards, and stay roped in until you are standing on your summit. You lead the climb.

Why a trusted advisor, and not just a coach

Because I have sat in all three chairs. I have run the payroll and made the wrong hire. I have read the file from the investor’s side and priced the risk. And I have done the personal work the hard way, out of order, after the fact. Very few people advising founders have done more than one of those.

Because the incentives are clean. Flat monthly fee. No equity, no success fee, no percentage of anything, no paid introductions. I have no interest in your company other than your outcome, which means you can take my advice at face value.

Because it stays in the room. Mutual NDA, both directions — including from your board, your investors, and your team. The value of a person you can think out loud with disappears the moment you have to manage what you say.

How to start, in three steps

One path. Nothing to choose between, and nothing to pay until we have both agreed it is a fit.

Step 1

Take the Life Quotient

Five minutes, twenty-five questions, five capitals. You get a number, your strongest capital and your weakest, a full written read, and three moves you can start on this week — whether or not we ever speak.

Free · five minutes · no account
Step 2

Book the intake session

Bring the report. You tell me what is actually going on — the version you would tell a friend, not a board — and I ask the questions I would ask in a real session. By the end we both know whether this is a fit.

Free · no pitch · nothing to prepare
Step 3

Start The Climb

If it is a fit, we begin the month after. Your first ridge is already named by the report, so the first session starts on the work rather than on the introductions.

$1,199 per month · three-month minimum

The Climb

One program, priced plainly. It is the only thing I sell here.

The coaching engagement
The Climb
One-to-one, on your company and on you
$1,199per month
  • Two 90-minute sessions a month. Three hours of focused one-to-one work, scheduled in advance so they are not the thing that slips.
  • Homework between sessions. Every session ends with something specific to build, decide, or stop doing — and the next one starts by reading it.
  • Company growth guidance. The operating cadence, decision rights, the numbers you should see weekly, the hires in the right order, and the capital plan behind them.
  • Personal guidance, on the record. The five capitals are the standing agenda, worked weakest-first and re-scored at the milestones.
  • A second set of eyes before every real decision. The hire, the term sheet, the distributor, the partner, the number you are about to say out loud.
  • Confidential, in writing. Mutual NDA both directions — including from your board, your investors, and your team.
Minimum termThree months — one full ninety-day cycle, the shortest honest test of whether it is working.
FormatVideo. On-site available when it is worth it: a full day at $2,500, plus travel.
FeesFlat monthly. Never equity, a success fee, or a percentage of your raise or sale.
